Literacy Through Literature (9th-12th)

Description: This class is designed to allow students the pleasure of reading classic literature. We will be reading three classics this semester: ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND, THROUGH THE LOOKING-GLASS, both written by Lewis Carroll, and then A CHRISTMAS CAROL, written by Charles Dickens. Students will learn that these are not just written for children. They are listed on college-bound reading lists. Students will learn that there is more than they know about these literature pieces!

Class Length: 16 weeks

Prerequisites: Must be able to work at course grade level.

Homework: 4 or more hours

Book: ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND, THROUGH THE LOOKING-GLASS, both by Lewis Carroll, and A CHRISTMAS CAROL, by Charles Dickens

Supplies: Pencils, Ink pens, notebook paper (college rule) and assigned books.
