Through The Decades (9th-12th)

Description: Through the Decades (1900-2000)
This class will engage all 5 of your senses while we study what life was like during each decade. We will touch on notable people and events but focus more on popular culture of the times. For each decade we will try popular foods, listen and discuss music, fashion, arts and entertainment. Many genres of music will be discussed but the ones we listen to will be clean. Tv shows and movies will be on the agenda as the decades lead us there (none will be rated R) Class will consist of mostly discussion and visual aides.

Homework each week will be a short presentation on a given topic. There will be 4 field trips for this class. Attending Field trips are encouraged but not required. Field trip possibilities include Allen Lamb House -early 1900s, Dillons grocery store-1930s Jimmy’s Diner -1950s and The Arcade-1980s

Class Length: 16 weeks

Prerequisites: None

Homework: 1-2 hours. Homework each week will be a short presentation on a given topic.
