Exploring Economics (9th-12th)

Description: This one-semester course explains the key concepts of economics and what they mean, guiding students to become better stewards of the money God provides and become informed contributors to the economy on personal, household, local, national, and international levels.

Anne of Green Gables: Study (6th-8th)

Description: As students read the book, ANNE OF GREEN GABLES, they will journey through thought-provoking activities as they explore life with Anne during the Victorian Era. Students will be challenged as they follow Anne through the historical issues of her day and compare that to the personal challenges of growing up in their own world of today. The unit provides a springboard for learning a Biblical world view in the setting of the Victorian Era. This book will be a fun trip with Anne, a “special girl with an enormous imagination.

Description: This hour will be a time for students to bring card games or board games to share with the class. I will provide some games each week too for the students to choose from. We may occasionally play group games such as taboo, pictionary, etc. For the most part, it will be an hour for the students to play games with their friends. There is no homework or cost for this class.

Earth Science: Hydrology, Meteorology and Astronomy (6th-8th)

Description: This class is based on Units 4-6 of BJU Earth Science. (Textbook not required) We will covering both surface water and groundwater systems. We will discuss the atmosphere, weather, and climates. Lastly, we will explore our solar system and non-planetary objects. There will be review questions for homework each week. These can be answered using the lecture notes given out during class.

Apologia General Science Lab (5th-8th)

NOTE: The first 7 modules were covered last semester.  It’s okay to still take the class but the student should know they missed 1/2 the book.

Exploring Creation with General Science, 3rd edition introduces the general science concepts of the scientific method and earth science, including astronomy, geology, paleontology, meteorology, oceanography, as well as general biology, chemistry, and physics. It covers environmental science and even includes a final module on science and creation, written by multiple modern-day scientists. While preparing students for high school studies, Exploring Creation with General Science, 3rd edition is designed to be vibrant, engaging, and academically rigorous. Further, this course will help the student to develop critical thinking skills and a lifelong passion for exploring God’s creation.

This class will do the labs and a review of the lessons. You and your student will be responsible for writing a lab report, reading the chapters before class, and filling out the lab notebook. If you have already taught this class but want the labs that will be ok.
