Middle School Drama (6th-8th)

Description: Middle School Drama is a “doing” class. There will be drama games and improv
scenes during each class session to give the students more experience on stage. They will review basic acting techniques and stage terminology, and work on some scripted scenes.

There is no textbook, but the students will be expected to take notes and keep all handouts. Returning students are encouraged, and new students will be welcomed.

*This class can be taken 1 or 2 semesters.

Bible History: Have You Heard About the Word? (9th-12th)

Description: A long time ago, The One True God, Adonai, created! His Creation tells a story, and He captures that story in the most wonderful Book ever written, THE HOLY BIBLE, and He wrote It for us. There is much history in and around and about this Book that He knew we would need. In this class, we will search through this history, His Story for us and discover such things as how we got the Bible, God’s timeline for Biblical history, and how all the pieces of His Story fit together to lead us to salvation through His Son, and Eternal Life with Him.

Description: We will be learning about different animals’ migration, hibernation, and adaptions for winter with crafts, stories, games, and activities.

Description: Each week we’ll look at a different famous shipwreck, such as the Vasa, Titanic, Hunley, Bismarck, Edmund Fitzgerald, Antikythera, etc.

Some examples of things we’ll do is watch informational videos, experiments such as learning how bulkheads work (or fail!), make our own compasses, use coordinates to play battleship, send messages in Morse code, use Google Earth to find visible shipwrecks, make a disaster diorama, listen to shipwreck songs, create a newspaper report for our favorite shipwreck disaster, and watch the shipwreck movie “The Cay” based on the middle grade novel by Theodore Taylor.

Description: This course will focus on getting comfortable with watercolor painting techniques and enjoying the process of painting. We will also discuss the basic materials, tools, techniques as well as color and value. This course will be a continuation of last semester however it is not a requirement to take this class.

American Sign Language 1 (9th-12th)

Description: American Sign Language (ASL) is a beautiful, expressive language. This is a language immersion class, meaning there will be limited voice. Beginning with the manual alphabet, students will learn to communicate in ASL, not just sign.

Learn & Play (K-1st)

Description: We will work on a variety of skills, from math to phonics to social skills to fine motor skills. Students will listen to read-aloud stories and participate in literature activities that go along with the stories. Our time together will also include fun learning games, crafts, and some snacks occasionally!

Robotics Team- FIRST HOUR (3rd-9th)

Description: This class is for students who have been chosen for the 2022 Robotics Team. Students will work to compete at WSU’s Mindstorms Challenge.
