HS Lit: To Kill A Mockingbird (9th-12th)

Teacher: Kaye Obermeyer

Description: TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD is a story of honor and injustice in the Deep South and the heroism of one man in the face of blind and violent hatred. It is a gripping, heart-wrenching, coming-of-age tale poisoned by prejudice, viewed through the eyes of a young girl as her lawyer father risks everything to defend a black man UNJUSTLY accused of a terrible crime.”

A content warning for parents: The court case crime is rape; there is scattered through the book the use of curse words; and prejudice is powerful in this small town. It is my intent to use Scripture and information from a book by Ken Ham, ONE BLOOD, to reinforce the Biblical answer to racism.
