Public Speaking & Debate (9th-12th)

Teacher: Amanda Post

Description: The ability to communicate clearly is often cited as one of the most important “soft skills” that employers are looking for. In this class, students will develop this skill by learning to organize their thoughts in both prepared and impromptu presentations, by using effective delivery techniques, and by practicing interpersonal communication skills. In addition to speeches, we will practice other common communication situations such as job interviews, group decision making, and conflict resolution. We will end the semester with a formal debate.
